Bringing Your Own Boat?

For those guests bringing their OWN boat to Canada, here is a list of things to remember:

Insurance and boat registeration, Anchor, Paddles, Depth Finder, Safety Kit, Buoyant Heavy Line (50 ft Long), Manual Propelling Device OR anchor with 50 ft of Rope, Cable or Chain, Watertight Flashlight - Working!, Manual Sound Signaling Device (whistle), Life Jacket for everyone - be sure they fit, Bailing bucket/bilge pump, gas tank, battery for Trolling Motor, Battery Charger, GOOD strong rope for tying to the dock, Rod Holders, Tie Down Straps, Spare Tire for Trailer, Quality Landing Net, Minnow Bucket.

*IF your boat is equipped with an inboard engine, fuel tank or a fuel burning appliance, a fire extinguisher must be on board.

Things You May Want to Know!

It is official, you will need a passport or passport card to return to the U,S. beginning June 2009. Please check out the article below to find out about the Passport Card - a cheaper alternative to the traditional Passport. A link is provided on our What to Pack page.

In a move to automate the licensing procedures throughout Canada. Each angler will now be required to purchase a temporary outdoors card for $9.00 CN. Each angler/hunter will receive a temporary outdoors card at time of purchase which will then be replaced by a permanent card to follow in the mail at a later date. They will then have their choice of which type of Fishing/Hunting license they would like to purchase. If you purchased an Outdoors Card in 2009, remember to bring it with you, otherwise you will have to purchase a new one. The license rates for 2010 are as follows:

Non-Resident 8 Day Sport Fishing : $44.50 CN

Non-Resident 8 Day Conservation:  $25.75 CN

Annual Sport Fishing:                       $69.50 CN

Annual Conservation Fishing:           $42.75 CN

Moose:                                           $396.75 CN

Black Bear:                                     $198.25 CN

Small Game:                                    $99.25 CN

 

Reservations for 2010 will now require a $175 NON-Refundable deposit per person. We can however reschedule your trip if notified 90 days before your schedule arrival.

It is always a good idea to check with your insurance company before you leave home to see if you are covered for damages to rented equipment. Due to the increasingly high cost of equipment, you will be responsible for all damages to rental equipment and cabins during your stay at Thaddeus Lake Lodge.

For a little added excitement, bring your ATV and explore Ontario's many roads and trails. Make sure to pack a helmet!!!

Passport Update

There is a new option for those of you who haven't gotten your passports yet.

Visit the Department of State's website at http://travel.state.gov/passport/ppt_card/ppt_card_3926.html to learn about the passport card which is a cheaper alternative to the typical passport but is only good for Land Travel, not Air Travel. Applications are being accepted now.
