Experience Archery and Black Powder hunting for Black Bear in the heart of Ontario's Black Bear Country. Over 400 square miles of exclusive, prime bear territory provide the perfect oppourtunity for a successful hunt. Our proven baiting techniques help increase the odds of harvesting a bear.
Statistics
Historically, 90% of our hunters have seen bears while hunting at Thaddeus Lake Lodge. Approximately 65-70% of our hunters have had the good fortune to harvest a bear. Most bears average over 200 lbs. with a few Pope and Young animals taken every year. Most bear are black, with the occasional white crest or color phase.
Baiting
Each hunter receives two bait sites, guaranteed active. We begin baiting the bears weekly, beginning the first week of July. This helps to ensure interested bears by the time the hunt begins. Two weeks before your arrival, the bears are baited every other day. When you arrive at camp, we take you out the first day and show you where the baits are and how to bait, as well as get the stands set. We provide the bait, (Please continue to use ONLY our bait, the success rate is better when there are no changes in bait) but you take over the baiting of your stands daily during your hunt.
The Hunt
There is a limited number of hunters per week. Baits are set 10-20 yards from the stands. The majority of bears are harvested in the late afternoon, early evening. Sows with cubs ARE NOT TAKEN- an alternative stand will be provided.
Once you get your bear, our guides will help you in skinning it. We have an ample supply of freezers to store both the meat and hide until you are ready to head home.
Don't forget the Fishing!
Your vacation isn't over once you get your bear, each hunting package includes a boat & motor so you can fish during your stay. Thaddeus Lake Lodge offers a wonderful opportunity to fish for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, perch and muskie on our chain of three lakes; Thaddeus, Ord and Moose.

Package includes:
Housekeeping cabin complete with beds, fridge, stove and all cooking utensils, boat, motor, outboard fuel. 2 Guaranteed active bait sites.
Limited Guide Service: You will be taken to your bait site(s) and shown how to get to and from them. We will discuss what you should expect while on the stand and what to do after the hit. Tracking assistance will be provided by our guides. Cooler and freezer service at no extra charge.

Hunter Provides: You MUST have a hunting license from your current state of residence, hunter orange hat and vest, groceries, sleeping bags, towels. Hunting equipment and 2 portable tree stands. Transportation to and from the baits. Although a truck is fine, an ATV is an asset.
